Nuclear cataract can occur, especially in rodents, and is more common in mice than rats. ![]() ![]() Nuclear sclerosis must be differentiated from nuclear cataract. With the continuous production of lens fibers, there is constant compression of the lenticular nucleus, and the optical density of the nucleus increases slowly with age (i.e., nuclear sclerosis).
